Step One: School should attempt to intervene per state statute.
Step Two: Refer student to county attorney office after seven days of truancy. Email him with letter of information, attendance report, copy of letters sent to family, etc. County attorney office will set up a diversion meeting with family, social services, probation and school (can be present by phone). At this meeting, they will create an attendance contract.
Step Three: If student continues to accrue truancies, the county attorney could determine a need for a petition to be filed with the court.
