Note: Nobles and Rock counties have a similar processes and literature that include both counties, but they are separate. New literature is in process.
Step One: School should attempt to resolve the truancy issues in accordance with state statutes.
Step Two: At 7 unexcused absences refer to Family Services via fax, "Attn: Intake". On letterhead include:
Step Three: School Personnel attends Truancy Court in person is possible or by phone.

- Student's name
- Parents' names
- Address
- Phone number(s)
- Language Spoke (parents and student)
- How many classes they have missed (differentiating between excused/unexcused absences) and on what days
- Grades
- If there are any other suspected issues that may be a factor in their truancy, such as drug/alcohol use, mental health problems, illness, etc.
- Copies of communication between the school and the family regarding the truancy concerns
- Any interventions the school has already tried
Step Three: School Personnel attends Truancy Court in person is possible or by phone.
