Step One: School attempts to resolve truancy issues per school policy
Step Two: When student has reached 7 or more days of truancy, contact the county with the information below. They will prepare a petition, send it to the school authority who gets it notarized and returns it to the county for filing with the court.
Step Three: Student, family, and school official attend court when summoned.

- Child's name, address, date of birth, race, sex, parents’ names/addresses, attendance record
- Attach copies of notices sent to parents regarding attendance issues and any other documentation showing efforts to correct attendance issues.
